All In The Family
I didn't grow up around a lot of family members. I don't know what it's like to live in one place all your life or to have your cousins grow up with you. My dad was in the military and we traveled all the time. While there are many benefits to growing up in this environment, I spent many years of my life feeling very alone. I didn't seem to fit in anywhere and never felt welcomed or wanted.
I struggled with depression and had even attempted suicide on a couple of occasions. I had given up all hope of ever being happy and thought I would never experience of the joy of being part of a large family.
But God (I love saying that!) had different plans for me. He met me in my brokenness and gave me more than I could ever believe was possible. He accepted me, welcomed me, and wanted me. Even though I was a mess.
Even though I was not raised in a church and I didn't know anything, He met me right where I was and spoke to my heart in such a way that I hungered for more of Him. God gave me many gifts and with no effort on my part, He made me a member of His family. He wanted me to be His child. He welcomed me as His daughter.
And because you [really] are [His] sons, God has sent the [Holy] Spirit of His Son into our hearts, crying, Abba (Father)! Father!
Galatians 4:6 Amplified
By the blood of Jesus Christ, we have all been adopted into God's family. He wants us all. He has extended the invitation to anyone who wants in. If we will accept it, He will give us His name. He makes us His sons and daughters. It doesn't matter what our past holds, God wants us.
Every sin known to mankind has been covered in the blood of Jesus Christ. Because of the work of Christ on the cross, God has opened the door to His kingdom and allowed all who want to enter in to become part of His family.
Here there is no loneliness. We are adopted by our faith into the body of Christ. We are all filled with the Holy Spirit and we will never have to face anything alone for God dwells in our hearts and Jesus walks by our side.
Jesus paid the price required for us to become sons and daughters of God.
Through Christ, we are part of God's family.
