Working with God

Laboring together [as God's fellow workers] with Him then, we beg of you not to receive the grace of God in vain [that merciful kindness by which God exerts His holy influence on souls and turns them to Christ, keeping and strengthening them--do not receive it to no purpose].
2 Cor 6:1 (The Amplified Bible)

We are called to work with God, not against Him.  We are responsible for doing the best we can with what we have and God will work with us to complete His work on earth.  Every single one of us is given God's grace in such abundance that we will be able to do so so much more than we think we can.

God is no respecter of persons and He gives generously to anyone who comes to Him.  Now having said that, know that you have been placed in the Body of Christ by God Himself and He has put you in the best place for you.  He has enabled you to shine in your service to Him right where you are.  We are guaranteed to experience frustration when we leave the place God has put us in the pursuit of our own affections.

God is not bound by time like we are.  We get impatient, thinking God has forgotten us so we try - in our own efforts - to promote ourselves or go after something WE want.  When this doesn't work, we wonder why God didn't bless us.  In order for us to enjoy the full measure and benefit of God's grace, we must wait on His timing to make things happen.  This requires a deep commitment to remain subject to God's plan over your own plan.

Part of God's plan for your life, will include many learning opportunities.  Let's face it, we do not give our lives to Christ and suddenly become perfect people who do everything right.  No, we are imperfect people relying on God's grace to make up for our lack so we can make a difference in our world.  We will mess up and make mistakes and that's okay.  God will use every opportunity you give Him to help you grow.  God can only teach you and use you to the extent that you let Him.  You are the only one who can limit God in your life.  If you do not believe, don't listen, and don't obey then you are stopping God's grace from abounding in your life.

God cannot work with you when you hold stuff back from Him.  He does not demand perfection from you, just honesty.  Be open with God about your thoughts, fears, dreams, hurts and desires.  Stop working against God and let His grace strengthen you.  When you come to God just as you are and lay your life out before Him, He will mix your offering with His grace and cause you to be successful.

Your sister in Christ,
Heidi
