You are going to Nineveh

Although this was given to me about something I am going through right now, I believe it will help and encourage you, too.   You only have one life and God has a plan for you on this earth.  He knows every step you will take before you even start moving.  In the Book of Jonah we find a man who has been commanded by God to go to his nation's enemy, the people in the town of Nineveh, and preach to them about their wickedness.  Jonah disobeys.  He gets on a boat and heads in the opposite direction, trying to get away from God.  But God ( I love saying that!)...but God knew where he was and through a series of events like a storm and being swallowed by a large fish, He brought Jonah to a place of repentance and put him back on track to Nineveh.

Now I don't know where you are on your journey but let me tell you, it's not too late, you are not too far off track, and you have what it takes to make it.  Just because you're on a rabbit trail right now does not mean you cannot get back to the road you are supposed to be on.  This is really quite a challenge though because our minds continue to try to discourage us and stop us from getting back to where we need to be.  Like Jonah, we can make up our mind about something and refuse to see it any other way.  This will not only stop us from moving forward but it also fools us into thinking we are right.  The trueth is, we are rarely right but God always is.  God and God alone is the Creator of everything.  He is in control, not us.  When we let our minds take over we forget this and get ourselves all worked up over something that God already has taken care of.

Realizing the futility of our own efforts, is usually followed by the thought that God won't be able to use us anymore.  That is not true!  The choices you make today whether to obey God or do what you want will determine your route.  No matter what, do not disqualify yourself.  Jonah is a perfect example of how God will still accomplish His plan when we repent and turn back to Him. The Isrealites are another example. It took them 40 years to complete an 11 day trip but they still made it to the promise land. How long it takes you to get there is not the point here. What matters is that you get there. And you will only get there if you don't quit.

In 1 Cor. 15:10 (The Amplified Bible) Paul says, "...I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect)..."  You are who you are by the grace of God and His grace on your life will always produce fruit and be effective.    Use this to remind yourself that God looks at everything so very differently than you do.  Keep doing the best you can every day.  Spend time with God.  Listen to Him and obey Him.  Do the work set before you with joy, knowing that God sees it as effective and useful.  Do not let yourself get worked up about what you perceive to be obstacles.  Trust that God is faithful to His word all the time.
You will go to Nineveh.
