You're Approved
Congratulations! You have been approved. Wondering what for? Read on.
Before I formed you in the womb I knew and approved of you [as My chosen instrument], and before you were born I separated and set you apart, consecrating you; [and] I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.
Jer. 1:5 The Amplified Bible
God approved of you long before you were born. He knows you. He has always known you. He knows everything about you and He knew it all before your life began (Psalm 139:16) and even knowing all the things you would say and do, He still approved of you and has chosen you to help others come to know Him.
Too many people think they cannot be used by God because of the things they have done in the past. News flash, yesterday is gone. Today is a new day and every time you ask God to forgive you, you are instantly forgiven. The Bible says He will remember your sins no more (Isa. 43:25). So my question to you is, if God can forgive and forget the past, why can't you? Before you answer, let me ask you a couple more questions. Have you ever watched people run? What are they looking at when they run? In my experience, when someone is running they are looking at where they are going. When they look back at where they've been, they usually fall. Remember Lot's wife looked back when they were running away from Sodom and Gomorrah and she turned into a pillar of salt (Gen. 19:26).
God doesn't want you living your life looking backward. He's not looking there, He's looking ahead to your future. Don't disqualify yourself from serving God based on your past. No matter where you are or what you've done, if you let Him, God will take the ugly and make it beautiful (Isa. 61:3).
In 1 Cor. Chapter 9, Paul talks about runners in a race. They are all running to win but only one will receive the trophy. Paul says in verse 24, "So run [your race] that you may lay hold [of the prize] and make it yours." We all win with God because we are only responsible for our own race. We cannot cross our finish line if we are looking backwards. In Hebrews Chapter 11 we see stories of several heroes and heroines of faith who lived their lives looking not at where they were or where they had been but they looked ahead and stayed focused on what God said they would have and they were all victorious.
Keep your focus on Jesus and don't let your past stop you from living the great life God has planned for you. You will win, if you don't quit.
Looking forward to hearing your tales of triumph.
