Are You Ready to Rumble?

Put on God's whole armor [the armor of a heavy-armed soldier which God supplies], that you may be able successfully to stand up against [all] the strategies and the deceits of the devil.
                                               Eph. 6:11 The Amplified Bible

The armor of God consists of the belt of Truth, the breastplate of Righteousness, the shoes of Peace, the shield of Faith, the helmet of Salvation, and the sword which is the Word of God (Eph. 6:13-17).  These are all given to us by God when we accept Jesus as our Savior and He intends for us to use them.

The truth of God's word is belted around you keeping everything firmly in place.  The blood of Jesus covers and cleanses you and in the cleansing process His righteousness becomes your breastplate, protecting you.  Your feet are guided by the Gospel of peace with the Lord directing every step.  Salvation is your helmet and you now have the mind of Christ.   Your faith is the shield that prevents all the fiery darts of the enemy from touching you.  It is impenetrable.  Your belief in Jesus and your trust in God's promises will always bring you victoriously through every situation in life.  Nothing can defeat you unless you lower your shield.  Last but not least is your sword which is the very Word of God.  With this sword you are no longer bound to defensive positions but you are now armed and able to go on the offensive.  Life with Christ is more than just defending what is God's, it also includes destroying the lies of the enemy before they reach their target.

We are in a battle with unseen but very real spiritual forces (Eph. 6:12).  Jesus has already won the fight for us but we still have to complete our mission.  Our armor and our weapons are based on and get their strength and power from the finished work of Christ on the cross.  God has given us everything we need for the fight, including the victory.  It is up to us to take action and live it out.  We are to speak out loud the victory of Jesus over the enemy.  We are to proclaim the goodness of God and what He has given us.  We are to use our sword when we pray.  Prayer is the offensive stance we take that limits the ability of the devil to impact our world.

The Bible tells us to pray at all times and to pray without ceasing (Eph. 6:18).  We are all called to pray for our families, our neighbors, our communities, our cities, our states, our nation, and for the nations of the world.  We are to pray the promises of God out loud knowing that when we do so, we sound just like Jesus to the enemy.  Our prayers put angels in motion and allow the promises of God to bear fruit in our lives and our world.  The full power of God and the triumph of Jesus become visible when we pray.

In prayer, we use the whole of our armor to confirm and manifest the victory that has been given to us through Jesus Christ.
