Small Seed, Huge Impact
A friend of mine called to thank me for speaking some "wise words" to her. I couldn't recall saying anything profound but she did. We had talked over the weekend about how she had introduced two friends to each other (one a believer and the other not) and how she was feeling a little jealous because the believer was speaking into the non-believers life the way she had wanted to. I suggested that maybe her role was not to speak but to introduce the two of them and that was all she was supposed to do, for now. After thinking about this for a few days, my friend ran into the believer at church. The believer asked if everything was OK because she sensed something was amiss. My friend shared her struggles and the way God had given her revelation through a converstaion with me. They talked and their friendship was strengthened.
Looking at the whole situation, I realized that we often miss the moments when God uses our daily lives to teach or motivate others. I had forgotten the words I spoke but my friend had not because they helped her to look clearly at something that was bothering her. This made me think of a verse in 1 Corinthians.
But by the grace (the unmerited favor and blessing) of God I am what I am, and His grace toward me was not [found to be] for nothing (fruitless and without effect).
1 Cor. 15:10a The Amplified Bible
You are who you are and God has annointed your life with His grace to produce fruit for His kingdom. Everything you do and every word you speak are all blessed by God. You may not always realize how much of an impact you make on others, but God does. Nothing about your life escapes His notice.
Every spiritual blessing has been given to you (Eph. 1:3) so that you can be His light in your world. As you offer all of your life to God, He will annoint you with His grace, making an astounding impact on the people around you. It doesn't matter if you think what you're doing isn't important or significant. To God, it is priceless.
God uses you everyday to make a difference in someone elses life. A smile, a pat on the back, words of thanks or encouragement are all things you do without thinking. Their impact on the lives of the recipient is a precious jewel to God.
Be mindful of God's delight in you. Do the very best that you can every day and let His grace move in you to help others come closer to Him.
Know that only with God's help are you fruitful and effective.
