Wealth and Riches
A devout life brings wealth but it's the rich simplicity of being yourself before God.
1 Tim. 6:6 The Message Bible
The Bible's definition of wealth differs greatly from the world's definition. In the world, wealth is based on stuff and how much of it you have. People waste so much of their life on earth chasing after things. Some people identify themselves by what they have and when that stuff falls apart, so do they. The more stuff people have, the less the content they are because earthly wealth does not satisfy our inner hunger for love and acceptance. It is futile to chase after posessions or money that will only perish and fade away. Dollar bills tear and wear out. Things break and stop working. Matthew 6:19-20 tells us not to pursue the things of this world but to seek the treasure that is eternal.
Eternal wealth is gained only in a loving relationship with God and with yourself. God's love for you will never decrease, break, fall apart, or fade away. It has no limits and remains unchanged no matter what you say or do. Think about this, God loves you so much that He sent His Son, Jesus, to earth to save you. Love is not only Who God is, it is the currency of His Kingdom.
He who does not love has not become acquainted with God [does not and never did know Him], for God is love. In this the love of God was made manifest (displayed) where we are concerned: in that God sent His Son, the only begotten or unique [Son], into the world so that we might live through Him. In this is love: not that we loved God, but that He loved us and sent His Son to be the propitiation (the atoning sacrifice) for our sins.
1 John 4:8-10 Amplified Bible
The wealth of God is this: His love poured out in our hearts through Jesus Christ. God is love and when we seek Him, we seek love. Love fills our life with treasures beyond the value of money. It is the foundation of the greatest treasure of all, your life in Jesus Christ.
The love of God toward you does not stifle your growth. His love is alive and moving, allowing you to grow and discover who you are and what He called you to do. It allows you to love Him, to love yourself, and to love others. The basic nature of the Kingdom of God and the quality that brings the greatest return on your investment, is love.
A life without love is a life of poverty. Let your life overflow with the unlimited wealth from heaven. Accept God's love for you. Live each day sharing the love you have from God with every person you come in contact with, including yourself. Make sure your family and friends know of your love for them. Let love permeate every area of your life. To help you in this, I suggest studying 1 Corinthians Chapter 13, Romans Chapter 12, and all of 1 John.
The richness of your life is not based on performance or possessions but on the amount of love from God that you allow to flow through you.
Love you,
