Open Lives Pt 2

I still have the verse from 2 Cor. 6:13 in the Message that says to "open our lives up to God" still on my mind.  This morning it really hit me as I read this verse:

...I am He Who searches minds (the thoughts, feelings, and purposes) and the inmost hearts, and I give to each of you [the reward for what you have done] as your work deserves.
                                                                  Rev. 2:23 Amplified Bible

God knows what we are made of and what we have inside of us.  There is nothing to Him that is a surprise or new.  Living our lives open to God includes us being completely honest with Him.  Yes, God already knows what we are going to say but the value of acknowledging truthfully what we hold within will ripple through our life like a wave on the ocean.

Honesty with God ultimately makes us be honest with ourselves.  At first this may be painful but God is with us everystep of the way.  Psalm 51:17 tells us that God will not despise a broken and contrite heart.  He wants us to lay everything we feel, hope for, think, and dream about before Him.  This doesn't mean we will get everything we ask for because we really don't know as much as we think we do.

We never really know enough until we recognize that God alone knows it all.
                                                             1 Cor. 8:3 Message Bible

So in being honest with ourselves we must be mindful that God knows what is best.  Jesus said He did nothing without first hearing it from the Father.  If it was good enough for Jesus to do, then it is definitely good for us too.

1 Cor. 7:23 tells us that we were bought with a price.  Jesus paid the debt of our sin and made us part of Him.  Now we are part of the body of Christ (1 Cor. 12:27).  He is the Head and we are the body.  Where He leads we are to follow.

God has given you a special part in the body of Christ.  It does not matter if you think it's special or not.  When you leave this world, God is not going to be impressed with how hard you tried to be like another part.  He is going to look at how well you did at being you.

So I challenge you to really spend some time with God.  Talk to Him about everything in your heart and on your mind.  Then sit and listen to Him.  I promise He will answer.  The Bible is God speaking to you right where you are, right now.  Know that whatever your plans or desires are, they pale in comparison to God's plan and His desires for you.

Be yourself.  Hold nothing back from God.  Live your life open - to God first.
