Take out the Trash
Can you imagine the temple of God overflowing with trash? This picture has been on my mind for the last several days and it is breaking my heart.
If anyone does hurt to God's temple or corrupts it [with false doctrines] or destroys it, God will do hurt to him and bring him to the corruption of death and destroy him. For the temple of God is holy (sacred to Him) and that [temple] you [the believing church and its individual believers] are.
1 Cor. 3:17 The Amplified Bible
Your body is the temple of God filled with the Holy Spirit (1 Cor 6:19). This verse also states that you, as the believer, are the temple of God. Think about this.... you are the temple of God. Don't focus on your sins or what other people have said about you. Think about what God says. You are His holy temple.
Now what kind of stuff are you putting in His temple? What are your thoughts about yourself? What do you say about yourself? Thoughts and words that do not agree with the Word of God are considered "false doctrines." If what you think and say about yourself does not match up with what God says then you are filling His temple with the trash of false doctrines.
Talking negatively about yourself is crippling because it stops you from enjoying life and it limits your ability to receive all that God has given you. It fills you with lies and weighs you down with guilt and condemnation. Jesus set us free from all of this. In 2 Cor 5:17 it says that in Christ we are new creations, old things have passed away (they are gone forever) and we are now fresh and new. The Bible also tells us that we are made by the hands of God in His image. God has given you talents and abilities (even if you don't see them) that enable you to fulfill the plan He has for you.
God loves you. You are the apple of His eye and His delight. Search your Bible for all the beautiful and wonderful things that God says about you. Write them down and read them everyday. Print them on your heart so that you, as God's temple, will reflect Him. God wants you to receive all of His promises. You cannot do this if what you think or speak about yourself does not agree with His Word.
Take out the trash. Get rid of negative self talk by believing what God says about you.
