More Than You Think

I have the chorus of a song that keeps running through my mind...

You are more than the that choices you make
You are more than the sum of your past mistakes
You are more than the problems you create
You've been  remade

The song is "You are More" by Tenth Avenue North.  It occurred to me as I thought about these words how much we limit our lives and discredit ourselves.  We spend a lot of time looking at others and trying to be a second rate imitation of them instead of being the perfect version of ourselves.  We watch movies about life and wish that ours was similar. 

Your life is a story just like the ones in movies.  The things you have gone through do not define who you are, they are merely pages and chapters in the story of your life.   But as believers in Christ, you are more.

Your life is the story of your time spent on earth.  It is the story of your journey to and with Jesus Christ.  It is not always pretty or easy or exciting but it is your life.  The choices you make shape your story.  But you are more.

Your story has far more value and power than you think it does.  Your life is the story God wants to use to inspire people to press on when they feel like quitting.  Your life is the story God wants to use to comfort the brokenhearted.  Your life is the story God wants to use to help people who feel they can never be accepted.  

The moments you think of as insignificant are the ones most likely to have had a huge impact on a bystander.  You just never know how God is using you to help others come to Him. 

As you go about your day, remember, you are more than you think.
