Seek and Keep

Receive and experience the amazing grace of the Master, Jesus Christ, deep within yourselves.
                                                        Phil. 4:23 The Message

The only thing that prevents Jesus from moving in your life is you.  Notice the first word in this verse is "receive."  It is a command to take something and make it yours.  In this case it means to accept and carry within you all that is yours as a believer in Jesus Christ.

Jesus is the fullness of the God-head(Col 2:9).  In Him is all that God is - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.  Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6) because He is God.  As we seek and keep more of Jesus on a daily basis, we experience for ourselves how great and marvelous He really is.  It is similar to any other relationship in your life.  In the beginning you don't know Jesus very well at all but each day as you seek Him and the more you keep what He says and gives you, the closer to Him you become.  Little by little, day by day, as your relationship deepens, Jesus is reflected in how you live.

Everyday is a new adventure in learning more about Jesus as well as yourself.  This knowledge is part of the grace of God that is to be used in your life to help others grow closer to Jesus too.  It can be a challenge to get some private time with God on a daily basis especially at this time of year.  But remember, Jesus is the reason that we have Christmas.  We are celebrating His birth with the parties, the extra family time, and by giving gifts to each other.  Without Jesus, Christmas is reduced to a season of life filled with extra work and effort that have no eternal impact.

There is more to life than what we have or see or do on this earth.  Our eternity with Jesus is based on how we live with Him on earth.  This is just the beginning and it only gets better as we seek and keep all that He gives us.
