You've got the Power

I want to share two verses from the Bible with you today from two different translations.

Believing prayer will heal you, and Jesus will put you on your feet.  And if you've sinned, you'll be forgiven - healed inside and out.  Make this your common practice: confess your sins to each other and pray for each other so that you can live together whole and healed.  The prayer of a person living right with God is something powerful to be reckoned with.
                                                                   James 5:15-16 Message

And the prayer [that is] of faith will save him who is sick, and the Lord will restore him; and if he has committed sins, he will be forgiven.  Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart].  The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].
                                                                    James 5:15-16 Amplified

As we prepare for Thanksgiving on Thursday and Christmas next month I want to remind you of the responsibility you have to pray for people and the unstoppable power that is released when you do.

Prayer is the most effective and powerful thing you can do.  With it, you can tear down lies, destroy strongholds, and reveal truth.  Never underestimate the strength and ability of prayer.  Prayer unleashes the full resources of heaven on earth causing the entire landscape of what you are praying for to be transformed.

Not sure where to start?  Below is a list of people you can pray for:

   - your family                       - your friends
   - your coworkers                - your classmates
   - your neighborhood          - your city
   - your state                         - America
   - all elected officials           - policemen/women
   - firefighters                       - first responders
   - American soldier             - patients in a hospital
   - those who have hurt you
   - those who have helped you
   - your Pastor and local church (to include the staff)

You may already have specific people that God has placed on your heart like the victims of domestic violence, victims of human trafficking, the cholera outbreak in Haiti, the starving communities in Africa, or people struggling with addictions.  I use 3 X 5 cards to help me when I pray.  They are filled with names and Bible verses so I can pray God's Word directly into specific situations.

No matter who you are praying for remember that the Lord God Almighty has your back.  He will put angels in motion at the sound of your voice.  He will bring His promises to pass in lives as you pray.

Develop the habit of prayer during this holiday season.  The greatest gift you can give to another is a commitment to pray for them every day.

Nothing can prevail against the prayers of a people who are in right standing with God and who do not doubt His ability and willingness to intervene when asked.

I am working nights this week so I won't be posting.  I hope you all have a safe and memorable Thanksgiving full of love and laughter.  If you need prayer for something specific, let me know.

May the peace of God fill your heart and home.
