The Best Gift
Christmas is my favorite time of year. I love the cold, the cheer and the twinkly lights. I love the music, time with family and friends, snow, and a roaring fire. But most of all - I love giving gifts. I want to lavish the people around me with unexpected treasures in an effort to let them know how much I love them.
But no matter how much I give, it can never compare to the priceless gift that God has given us as demonstration of His limitless and irrevocable love for us. That gift - is Jesus Christ (John 3:16).
It is because of Jesus that we are no longer separated from God. Jesus is the Way to God (John 14:6). He is the giver of life and the full payment required to erase our sin. Through Jesus, we have free, unrestricted access to God at any time and in any place. What an honor it is to be able to share our lives with the Lord God Almighty Who is the maker of heaven and earth.
As you go about buying gifts and making plans for Christmas, be sure to include Jesus. Set apart some special time for just the two of you. Spend time reading the first few chapters of the book of Luke that record the story of His birth.
Let the magnificence of God's love for you permeate everything you do.
