Cautious is Criminal
In Matt. 25 Jesus is teaching about the kingdom of heaven. He is telling the story of the three servants who were given money while the Master was away. Two of the three used what they were given and doubled what they had. The third servant hid what he was given until the Master returned.
The Master was furious. "That's a terrible way to live! It's criminal to live cautiously like that! If you knew I was after the best why do you do less than the least?"
Mat. 25:26 Message
God has given each of us a life to live. A life that is beyond our wildest dreams. A life full of ups and downs. We are to experience life to the full, not to live cautiously.
God is God. There is no other. He is in control. God has a plan for every person and that means He has a specific plan for you. We cannot live another persons life we must live our own.
We must realize that each day is a gift given to us and use our time wisely. God wants us to live abundant, much more lives (John 10:10) and the first step is to let God lead. God knows what is best and He will always take care of us. The second step is to obey Him. Disobeying God is to live cautiously and we can see in this verse that to do so is criminal.
At first we may baulk at the idea of obeying God. We want to do things our way. Besides, He may ask us to step out of our comfort zone or do something we don't think we can do.
I don't know about you, but when I tried to live my way things were always messed up. I have never been more miserable than when I was trying to be the boss. It is not what I was made to do. It didn't fit me and I certainly didn't do a good job. But once I let God lead, things got better quick.
Keep in mind that letting God lead is a learned behavior. It does not come naturally to us so it will take some practice. I promise you will be successful if you do not give up. Keep at it and you will learn to follow God.
So with God in the driver seat life is full and exciting. Gone are the worries and stress of trying to make things happen. God will challenge you to live beyond yourself, to throw caution to the wind and be generous in all things.
It may at times seem to be more than you can handle but remember God is with you and His plan is for you to overcome. Embrace what God gives you. Explore the deeper places of a kingdom life and enjoy what you have.
Live the life you have been given with enthusiasm and expectation.
Don't let fear hold you back. Don't be cautious. Follow God. Be obedient and live your dreams.
Then you will hear God say, "Well done, My child."
