Real Life
She will bear a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus [the Greek form of the Hebrew Joshua, which means, Savior], for He will save His people from their sins [that is, prevent them from failing and missing the true end and scope of life, which is God].

As I've been reading this verse, I am most struck by the words in the last set of brackets. God is the true end and scope of life...He is life.
Looking at my own life, I spent many years searching for love and fulfillment in people, in my job, in alcohol and drugs, and in possessions. As long as I kept looking for things in the world to satisfy the hunger in me, the less life I really lived. Being so consumed with filling myself, taking care of myself, and promoting myself, left me feeling like a dog that chases its tail.
It was a merry-go-round that was not pleasant and never stopped.
That is not life.
God is life.
I am the Way, the Truth, and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.
John 6:14 NKJ
And even though I spent so long looking in the wrong places, God had made Himself very real to me as a teenager. I knew He existed and I knew the answers to my problems were in the Bible but it took 12 years of searching before someone introduced me to Jesus.
Don't let people around you miss out on real life.
Don't just assume everyone knows about Jesus.
Be the one to share the life God gives us in Jesus Christ with everyone and anyone.
