Abide and Love Pt 4
Still here. Can't seem to move on. Bear with me, as my heart is racing because I am so excited about this.
If you live in Me [abide vitally united to Me] and My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts, ask what you will and it shall be done for you.
John 15:7 Amplified
I had been living from my thoughts, letting them lead me around. They kept me very insecure and controlling. But God (I love saying that!) through this series has taught me to live from my heart.
You see, our thoughts are by nature, very carnal for they are self focused. Our minds are consumed with self worry and how we can get what we "think" we need.
Think of it this way, your mind is a giant stew pot that is great only for simmering resentment, bitterness, self loathing, and jealousy. You probably have your own list of ingredients.
Living from this pot is limiting. It does not grow or move because it only focuses on us. Most of us don't realize we can change out this pot, so we just let it simmer whatever it wants and wonder why our lives are not full of the promises of God.
Now let's look back at verse 7: "...My words remain in you and continue to live in your hearts..."
If we were to empty out that pot and exchange it for say a pot made with God's word, everything changes. Now His word remains in us and the longer it cooks the more it fills our heart.
The awesome thing about God's pot is that it does grow. It can change shape and it can filter out anything that does not belong. This pot allows us to live from our hearts which are full of God.
Over time as we keep God's pot simmering, we discover a freedom that we never knew before. It is the freedom we have in Christ. We are no longer bound by the barriers of our thoughts but open to God. Life looks different, it tastes different, it even smells different.
There is a tremendous transformation that takes place when we remove our thoughts from the kitchen and put God in charge. We discover the peace and power of God that live in us as His children.
Everything in life is different when God is the Chef.
