Bankrupt

Our country is going through some tough economic times.  People all around us are still being laid off and struggling to make ends meet.  People all across our land are filing bankruptcy because they just cannot pay their bills any longer.  This is not the worst of it either.

There are even more people who are spiritually bankrupt.  They are so far in debt to sin that their lives are dark, gloomy, and gray.  They've lost hope and lost sight of how to get out of the mess they have made.

As believers in Jesus Christ, our debt to sin has been paid in full.  That's right, the price of our sin has been met and everything we owed to sin is taken care of.  We are debt free!  It no longer sits on our shoulders weighing us down.  This is the rest and relief Jesus promises to give us.

Then Jesus said, "Come to me all you who are weary and carry heavy burdens, and I will give you rest.  Take my yoke upon you .  Let me teach you, because I am humble and gentle at heart, and you will find rest for your souls.  For My yoke is easy to bear, and the burden I give you is light."
                                                             Matt. 11:28-30 NLT

Jesus invites all people to come to Him for relief.  He has taken care of us even when we didn't know Him.  Through Jesus Christ we have found freedom.  Everything is completely different now because the love of God has been poured out into our lives through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ.

The love of God for us is so vast that we cannot contain it and there is a reason for that.  God intends for us to share and pass on the love and mercy that He has so generously given us.

The joy of our salvation and the cleansing from our sin is meant to be shared with others.

The is a Christian song that asks the question "why would I wait for someone else to move and do what God has asked me to do?"  Our government will not step in and help those who are spiritually bankrupt like they do with those who struggle economically.

It is our responsibility to let people know how Jesus can help them.

At the end of Chapter 9 in the book of Matthew, Jesus tells the people to ask God to provide more workers for the harvest because the harvest is great.  You have been harvested from the world and set free from the bondage and debt of sin.

Now it is your turn to step up and help others receive the same for their lives.

Share all the ways God has moved in your life.  Talk about how He has answered your prayers.  Thank Him constantly for the opportunities He gives you to demonstrate His graciousness in this lost and hurting world.

You do not have to be perfect to talk about how God has transformed your life.  God takes you as you are and uses what you have been through to help others who are facing the same issues.

The harvest is great!  Telling people how God has helped you provides them the chance to receive Him in their lives as well.
