Come and Go Freely

Yes, I am the gate.  Those who come in through Me will be saved.  They will come and go freely and will find good pastures.
                                                           John 10:9 NLT

Jesus is the only way to God (John 14:6).  He is the gate.  We enter our relationship with God through Jesus.  We are adopted into God's family through Jesus.  When we believe in Jesus He becomes our home and we are free to grow and move without condemnation.

In the next verse, Jesus says He came to give us life and life more abundant.  So verse 9 is talking about our life as a whole.  Jesus did not put boundaries on our life, He gave us a free life.  A life without walls or limits.  A life that we can live with passion, joy, and laughter.  A life that is uniquely ours, a one of a kind masterpiece.

Jesus does not want us all to be the same.  We are individually made in the image of God and we are to explore the world around us so we can discover who we are.  We are free to find out for ourselves what we like and what we don't like, what we are good at, and what we can contribute to our world and the Body of Christ.

Freedom in Christ gives us opportunities to do all kinds of things without fear.  We are free to be who God made us to be.  Fear can no longer hold us back.  So what if we step out and things don't go the way we thought they would.  We know that God is in control and He will take care of us.

     - We are free to find out who we are.
     - We are free to find out what we can do.
     - We are free to love just like God does.
     - We are free to give because God supplies all our needs.
     - We are free to enjoy life because it is a gift from God.
     - We are free to dream and free to work.

Freedom is one of the many gifts given to us by God when we believe in Jesus.
