The God Who Sees Me
I am still in Genesis Chapter 16.
Immediately after giving correction, God tells Hagar that her unborn child is a boy and she is to name him Ishmael (which means God hears) and through him she will have a multitude of descendants. He also tells Hagar that Ishmael will be at odds with other men, he will be wild and hostile.
Thereafter, Hagar used another name to refer to the Lord, Who had spoken to her. She said, "You are the God Who sees me." She also said, "Have I truly seen the One Who sees me?" So that well was named Beer-lahai-roi (which means "well of the Living One Who sees me"). It can still be found between Kadesh and Bered.
Gen. 16:13-14 NLT
Did you catch that?
God sees you. The Living God sees you.
God knows you.
God loves you.
God is always watching over you, always listening for you. He loves you so much that He never takes His eyes off of you. You are precious to God and He delights greatly in you.
Just like with Hagar, God may bring correction but He will not withhold any good thing from you (Psalm 84:11).
Think about how great that is! God pays attention to you 24/7. He does not miss a move you make, a word you speak, or a thought you think. Even Jesus acknowledged that God the Father was always with Him.
"But the time is coming - indeed it's here now - when you will be scattered, each one going his own way, leaving me alone. Yet I am not alone because the Father is with me."
John 16:32 NLT
The words of Jesus here are so powerful: "I am not alone because the Father is with Me." Like Jesus and Hagar we are never alone because God the Father is always with us. No matter what we face in our lives today, God is right beside us ready to give us whatever we need to get through. He is our constant companion, our strength, our peace, our joy, our refuge. God has it all covered because He loves us so much.
In addition to being so amazing, it can also be a little uncomfortable.
For me it was uncomfortable this morning when a piece of equipment wasn't working the right way and I started to get all sideways about it. When I remembered this verse and I immediately repented.
Are there things you do that you think no one sees? Is everything you do something you would do if you could see Jesus standing beside you? If not, repent.
Live today aware of God's presence beside you.
