The Gift of the Holy Spirit
When Jesus was preparing to leave His disciples, He told them about the Holy Spirit that we would send to us from heaven (John 16:7-14). Jesus instructed His disciples to wait for the Holy Spirit to come to them. It came to them on the day of Pentecost as they were assembled in the upper room. The Holy Spirit came upon and filled all who were present that morning (Acts 2: 1-4).
...And the Father, as He has promised, gave Him the Holy Spirit to pour out upon us, just as you see and hear today.
Acts 2:33
The Holy Spirit is a gift from Jesus. God has taken a part of Himself and placed it in us so that we can learn to be more like Him. Now God's Strength, power, and wisdom are ours. We can think, speak, and respond just like Jesus. We are one with God.
God is often referred to as the Holy Trinity. He is a three part being - the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. We are also three part beings - body, mind, and spirit. The Holy Spirit keeps us completely connected to God. Without the Spirit, we lack God's fullness in our lives.
The voice of God that whispers in our hearts words of love, acceptance, guidance, edification, and correction comes to us through the Holy Spirit. He is that still small voice that keeps us aware of God's continuous presence and limitless love.
The Holy Spirit is a gift from God but like any other gift you can refuse it.
The abundant life Jesus promises is ours when we fully receive all of His gifts.
I'm praying for the fullness of God in your life.
