Living Wisely 3
We've spent the last two days talking about the words of the wisdom found in your Bible. Today I want to talk about the second part of this verse.
Listen to the words of the wise; apply your heart to my instruction.
Prov. 22:17 NLT
The Bible is not just a book - it is godly wisdom. It is God speaking to you words of love, correction, instruction, and guarantees but you cannot have them until you know them. And you cannot know them without applying your heart.
This is not about memorizing a whole bunch of scripture.
When you put your heart into something, you live it. Put your heart into living by God's word. Share your whole life with God. Let His wisdom help you make big and little decisions. Learn to think like God so you can act like Him.
What is in your heart determines your life (Prov. 4:23). When we keep God's word in our hearts, we begin to change from living selfishly to living generously. The choices we make in daily life are based upon those truths we have learned from living with Jesus.
God does not want to miss out on any part of your life. That is why He tells us to apply our hearts to knowing and living His Word.
God's promises are yours when you believe. But how can you believe if you don't know? How are you going to know if you don't seek God for yourself? You cannot live on another persons faith. You have to know God for yourself.
Not only have we been given eternal life with God through our belief in Jesus but now we have His presence and assistance in our daily lives.
Apply your heart to God's wisdom by living His word.
