Living Wisely 4

Before I move on to the next verse in Proverbs 22 I want to share one last thing about applying your heart.  Practice.  Living God's word does not come naturally to us and you will certainly mess up everyday but keep at it.

The key to applying your heart is to get back in the race when you fall.  When you sin, repent.  Don't give up just because you are not perfect at following God's instructions for wise living.

Now on to the next verse.

For it is good to keep these sayings in your heart and always ready on your lips.
                                                      Prov. 22:18 NLT

It is good for us to meditate on God's word and to speak it.  There is a reward for you when you treasure the Word in your heart.

The Bible says faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God (Rom. 10:17).  Hearing the Word of God spoken out loud helps fill your heart with godly wisdom that will enable you to live a godly life.

Some of my best "ahah" moments from God have come when I was talking to other believers.  I learn from their experiences and all of us walk away built up, strengthened and encouraged.  These conversations excite my heart and stimulate my mind to keep pursuing God.

I have also found reading the Bible out loud to be very beneficial.  The more we repeat God's word out loud, the more comfortable it becomes in our mouth and the quicker it comes out of us when we encounter trials.

When more than one of our senses is involved in our time with God, the annointing of the Holy Spirit gets stronger.  We engage more with God and are able to go deeper into His word learning new lessons and getting more personal reminders of how much He loves us.

Lastly, I want to mention prayer.  I talk out loud to God a lot (usually when I am alone).  I remind Him what His word says, ask for clarity or help, but most of all I thank Him. When I thank God out loud for all the things He has done for me, I am motivated to keep living for Him.  It helps me stay mindful of all the many blessings in my life.

I encourage you to spend time outside of church listening to or talking about the word of God.

Hearing yourself speaking God's promises causes your heart to hunger for more of Him.
