Living Wisely 5
It's a lot easier to say we trust God than it is to actually do it. The verses we have been looking at this week (Prov. 22:17-19) all bring us to the topic of trust. Living wisely is built on the foundation of trusting God.
I am teaching you today - yes, you- so you will trust in the Lord.
Prov. 22:19 NLT
The Message Bible says it this way:
To make sure your foundation is trust in God, I'm laying it all out right now just for you.
Prov. 22:19
The beginning of wisdom is to start with God (Prov. 1:7). Living wisely is dependent on us trusting God. Throughout the book of Proverbs we are reminded that all wisdom comes from God and that those who trust in Him will prosper and flourish. God promises to give His wisdom freely to all who seek Him (Prov. 2:6).
Trust is a choice we make. We choose who and what we will trust. Those who are wise will start with trusting God.
Be careful how you live. Don't live like fools, but like those who are wise.
Eph. 5:15 NLT
Pay attention to how you live. This includes how you speak and what you listen to. Every decision you make matters. Imitate those who have gone before you and overcome.
Imitate Jesus.
Our trust in God grows as we live each day with Him. Living with God allows us to see His faithfulness as He answers our prayers and questions. We gain confidence in God's love because it never decreases or changes. No matter how many times we mess up, God loves us and forgives us. He always gives us so much more than we deserve. As time passes, we will clearly be able to recognize God's hand on our lives giving us guidance and direction.
The more we learn Who God is and what He has given us and done for us, the more determined we become to live according to His wisdom.
Those who are wise will take all this to heart.
Psalm 107:43 NLT
All who trust God, live wisely.
