All You Got
"If you want to give it all you got," Jesus replied, "go sell all your possessions; give everything to the poor. All your wealth will then be in heaven. Then come follow me."
Matt. 19:21 Message
Jesus is not saying it is bad to have stuff but He is saying that it is wrong for us to cling to things more than God. People who put their trust in what they own will never find peace; for worry about keeping what they have will keep it far from them.
Many people base their self worth or level of importance on the things they possess. They throw around brand names in an attempt to impress others with their wealth or status.
True wealth comes only to those who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. The richness of the believer's life outshines and outlasts every earthly treasure you can imagine.
Stockpile treasure in heaven, where it's safe from moth and rust and burglars. It's obvious, isn't it? The place where your treasure is, is the place you will most want to be, and end up being.
Matt. 6:19-21 Message
Clothes will wear out, cars will breakdown and rust, and houses will fall apart. The word of God never will. Set your heart to value all the things of God over anything and everything in this world.
Our spirits will spend eternity in one of two places - with God or without God.
What you choose in this life will determine your destination in the next.
Choose Jesus over possessions.
