Joy on the Job

Joy on the job.  Two three letter words that most people would not put together.  But God does.

Take care of yourself, have a good time, and make the most of whatever job you have for as long as God gives you life.  And that's about it.  That's the human lot.  Yes, we should make the most of what God gives, both the bounty and the capacity to enjoy it, accepting what's given and delighting in the work.  It's God's gift!  God deals out joy in the present, the now.  It's useless to brood over how long we might live.
                                                Eccl. 5:18-20 Message

God gives us life and in that life we have a job.  This passage of scripture reminds us to stay mindful of God's generosity and to work with joy.

I don't know when the change happened but somewhere along the way, we as a society, decided that work was only supposed to be tedious and boring and miserable.  God doesn't see it that way.  Our jobs are part of our adventure in getting to know Him.  What we do to make money for our family is not who we are.

My job is not my source.  Don't get me wrong, I love being a nurse but God is the One who gave me the gifts and strengths I need for it.  He gave me the desire in my heart to help people be healthy and to live closer to Him.

What has God gifted you to do?  What are you doing now?  Do you recognize the work you do as valuable to God?  It is.

Whatever it is that you do - do it with gratefulness knowing that God thinks you are the right one for the job.
