Judas
OK, so I'm still thinking about the relationship between Jesus and Judas Iscariot. I cannot find anything in the scriptures that show Jesus treated Judas any different than He did all the other disciples.
Jesus knew when He picked Judas as one of the twelve that Judas would betray Him but He still loved and accepted him like the others. Judas was anointed, as all the disciples were, to heal the sick and share the good news of the arrival of God's Son. Judas even shared in the last meal with Jesus and had His feet washed.
Jesus did nothing that would interfere with the course of events that would lead to His death. Why? Jesus was confident in the love of the Father for Him - not because of what He would do on earth but because Love is who God is.
Love is the very essence and nature of God. It is so pure and so holy that it overcomes and overlooks everything.
The purity and holiness of God cannot be tainted by the filthiness of our sin. With people, we say "Bad company corrupts good morals." But with God, that is not true.
God's goodness and His holiness change us. He removes our sin, cleans us up and makes us more like Him. We become better for knowing Him and the more we hang out with him the better we become.
Look at the love Jesus had for Judas, the man who betrayed Him, and know that you, too, are also greatly loved. Your past is not strong enough or bad enough to keep away the love and compassion God has for you.
Receive the love of God into every nook and cranny of your heart and life.
Respond to the love of God by living recklessly in love with Him.
