Psalm 103 - Mercy
God's mercy is astounding!
He does not punish us for all our sins; He does not deal harshly with us, as we deserve.
Psalm 103:10 NLT
God knows how fragile we are. He understands our struggles to do what is right and He never gives us what we deserve.
This concept has been difficult for me to accept. Growing up I faced ridicule, sarcasm, and name calling when I messed up. There were also long periods of silence and isolation. But, thankfully, that is not the way God treats us.
The minute we admit our mistake and ask for mercy, God immediately responds by removing our sin. Through the work of Christ on the cross, He pulls us close and tenderly holds us. He shares our grief over our sin but He does hold it against us.
It can be very difficult to receive and comprehend a love so pure that it is never harsh or angry toward us but that is exactly how God loves us. He will not bring up past sin or take offense.
God loves you so much that He will not let anything keep you away from Him. He holds nothing back from all who come to Him genuinely remorseful.
God is waiting for you to allow His love to light up your life no matter where you've been or what you've done.
Because God is love - His mercy is yours for the taking.
