Psalm 103 - Remember
Psalm 103 begins with David reminding himself not get caught up in circumstances or give in to depression because God has done great things for him and is always working on his behalf.
Bless the Lord O my soul;
and all that is within me bless His holy name.
Bless the Lord, O my soul;
and forget not all His benefits.
Psalm 103:1-2 NKJ
Life can be chaotic and unpleasant. At times, it can seem overwhelming and difficult. Instead of freaking out, there is a way to get through these times with peace and joy. David shows us how in these first two verses.
While you may need to make some decisions regarding the situation, refuse to let the issue keep replaying in your mind like a broken DVD. Do what David did and remind yourself of all the things that God has done for you.
Has He answered a specific prayer recently? Did you get a promotion? Has He helped your child with a challenge? Have you been given a new opportunity to do something for someone? Or, has He whispered sweet words of love to you?
Whatever it is that God has done for you - whether recently or a long time ago - keep it at the front of your mind. Dwell only on the moves of God in your life and not the issue you may be dealing with.
I know this is easier said than done but remember that all things are possible with God and the more you train your mind to handle things this way the easier it becomes. It's just like physical training. At first it is very hard but with practice, it becomes second nature.
Enter His gates with thanksgiving; go into His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him and praise His name.
Psalm 100: 4 NLT
You worrying will not change a thing, praise and thanksgiving will. Your gratitude to God for what He has done in your life will keep your heart and mind full of peace and joy as you go through the tough times.
Let praise keep your emotions under control.
God will always take care of the situations you take your hands off of.
