Tempted

God does not tempt us!

And remember when you are being tempted, do not say, "God is tempting me."  God is never tempted to do any wrong and He never tempts anyone else.
                            James 1:13 NLT

Temptation comes from within us.  It begins with thoughts that lead to desires and if we do not stop them, they will lead us to sin.

Temptation comes from our own desires, which entice us and drag us away.  These desires give birth to sinful actions.  And when sin is allowed to grow, it gives birth to death.
                             James 1:14-15 NLT

Temptation is the result of letting our thoughts wander and our emotions take control.  Giving in to temptation prevents us from living a godly life.

Acting on temptation allows sin the opportunity to grow making it stronger and leads us to death.  Death is in the opposite direction from God.

By keeping our thoughts focused on Jesus and what He has done for us as well as what we can do to help others, we prevent temptation from rising up.

Keeping our thoughts occupied with Jesus is as simple as carrying around a 3x5 card with a verse from the Bible written on it that you can pull out and read and think about when you catch yourself looking in the direction of temptation.

Keep yourself involved with Jesus by living your life focused on Him.
