The Great Protector
I ran the first leg on a relay team yesterday. There was a thunderstorm 40 minutes before the start and I took cover under some reporter's scaffolding with about 8 other people. I was protected from the rain (and wind) by a person on every side. Although it did not keep me completely warm and dry it certainly stopped me from being really cold and getting drenched.
The Lord Himself watches over you! The Lord stands beside you as your protective shade.
Psalm 121:5 NLT
God is always with us. We are not promised an easy stress free life but we are guaranteed that God's presence is always beside us and nothing can overtake us.
When storms come (and they do), it can appear to be easier to do nothing except feel sorry for yourself, possibly freak-out, and give up. But the truth of the matter is that God, Who is next to us every step of the way, does not want us rolling over and playing dead.
He wants us to stand confidently on His promises and not break down. How we perceive the situation is irrelevant. God is with us. Nothing can bring us down unless we let it because there is NOTHING greater or stronger or bigger than God.
God is our protection detail. He keeps us surrounded and safe no matter what is going on. We will always come through the storms, sometimes wetter and colder than others, but we will always come through.
The Lord keeps watch over you as you come and go, both now and forever.
Psalm 121:8 NLT
The promise of God's protection is not only for whatever you are facing today. It is for all time. He will never leave you, never forsake you.
There is no greater protector or defender than the loving presence of the Lord God Almighty who is strong enough to make you strong (Romans 16:25, Message).
