Not Mine

One of my favorite verses in the Bible is:

I am crucified with Christ.  It is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God who loved me and gave Himself for me.
                              Gal. 2:20 NKJV

Jesus paid the debt of our sin for us because we could not it ourselves.  He layed down His life so that we could have it and now He lives in us.

Let's look at this verse in the Message Bible:

Indeed, I have been crucified with Christ.  My ego is no longer central.  It is no longer important that I appear righteous before you or have your good opinion, and I am no longer driven to impress God.  Christ lives in me.  The life you see me living is not "mine," but it is lived by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me.  I am not going to go back on that.
                              Gal. 2:20

This verse is a reminder that faith in Jesus Christ is the foundation of our lives on earth.  Our old self-focused life has been crucified with Christ.  We now live as part of something much bigger and stronger than ourselves for we are part of the body of Christ.

Our lives are not our own.
