Yah
I love finding out what words mean. There are so many sayings that are passed down from one generation to another without an explanation. We often take these sayings for granted and repeat them without ever really knowing what we are saying.
Behold, God is my salvation, I will trust and not be afraid; for YAH, the Lord is my strength and song; He has also become my salvation.
Isa. 12:2 NKJ
Yah is short for Yahweh or Jehovah. It is part of the compound word: Hallelu - Yah
This is literally translated: "You must all praise Yah!"
You must all praise God!
I think this is pretty cool. I've never really thought about what Halleluyah meant and now it has a new meaning for me. I find myself smiling just saying it.
Since this was exciting, I continued to dig into another word in this verse: salvation.
Salvation is not just a one time event. It is a present possession with the promise of more to come that includes both the material and spiritual realm of life.
Salvation is often used to describe spiritual well being. But literally, it is the total scope of Christ's work for man that includes all of the following:
-forgiveness -restoration
-safety -liberation
-rescue -prosperity
-health -deliverance
Salvation touches the entire person - spirit, soul, and body.
Through Jesus Christ we have received every necessary thing for life on earth now and in heaven to come. Our sins are forgiven and we have been cleaned up and made right with God. The only thing left for us to do is praise God.
Hallelu - YAH!
