First Believed
Throughout the Bible, people are reminded to return in to that time when they first believed in Jesus.
In the beginning, we were eager to learn from and about God. We looked forward to every opportunity to talk about Him. We were excited as we looked forward with the hope of Christ in our hearts and a joyful expectation in our minds to living a new life in Him.
For if we are faithful to the end, trusting God just as firmly as when we first believed, we will share in all that belongs to Christ.
Heb. 3:14 NLT
Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. He never changes. But we do.
The more we get to know God, the more comfortable we get around Him and we tend to lose that sense of awe and respect - that child like heart that burned within us at the mention of His name that we had when our relationship with Him first began.
As God becomes more familiar to us, our trust in Him shifts to trust in something or someone else. Quickly life becomes a struggle until we turn back to that place in our hearts when we first believed.
We lose our joy when we let anything other than God take first place in our lives.
Our bold trust in God enables us to be partakers of all that belongs to Christ.
A God first life is built on absolute trust in God at all times.
