Today as we celebrate the birth of the United States of America, let us stay mindful of the sacrifices made to give us so much freedom and the responsibility that comes with being free.
Freedom is not free. Many men and women have devoted their lives and died in securing the liberty we have. Out of respect for all the sacrifices made by others so we could live free, let's spend a few minutes today thanking God for those who have given so much to this great land.
Currently, America is struggling. Our economy is tenuous and there is no respect for authority or integrity. As followers of Jesus Christ, we can effect great change by simply praying.
So I ask you to pray. Pray for every man and woman at every level of our government - city, county, state, and federal. Pray for their safety and for their families. Pray that they would do the right thing, that they would make decisions based not on who is lining their pockets but on what is truly best for the people.
Pray that people will take the responsibility of freedom seriously by voting.
Pray that godly wisdom will permeate our government and that the church will resume her rightful place as the foundation of our country able to help those in need.
Don't stop praying after today either. Pray everyday for America. She needs us. And to your prayers, add action by supporting the church and reaching out to help those who are struggling.
Together we can all make America a better place to be.
