Safe in God's Love
But you dear friends, must build each other up in your most holy faith, pray in the power of the Holy Spirit, and await the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ who will bring you eternal life. In this way you will keep yourselves safe in God's love.
Jude 20-21 NLT
Three simple things that do not require money but have great protecting power are all that is needed to stay safe in God's love.
1. Build each other up.
To build each other up means to not be critical or judgmental. No complaining about each other. The command to love people the way God loves us is not to be taken lightly. It is a heavy responsibility that when followed through on will keep us protected from the little foxes of bitterness and unforgiveness that can destroy our connection to God.
2. Pray in the power of the Holy Spirit.
Pray God's word over people and circumstances. The Bible warns us not to trust our own understanding. God knows the truth of every situation and He knows what is best. Be open to God's plan instead of being determined to have your own way. Our willingness to live submitted to the authority of the Holy Spirit allows us to fulfill the plans and purposes of God.
3. Wait for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ.
The New King James version says to "look for the mercy of our Lord Jesus Christ." Stay focused on Jesus. Keep looking to Him for everything you need and want. In Christ we will find real and eternal life. There is no other way. When we keep our attention on Jesus, it is hard for us to get distracted by the lies from the devil.
Our words have the same authority as Christ's so caution is necessary so that we will speak truth and life instead of cursing and death. By building others up, we build ourselves up. What we pray over others is also what we will receive. In following Jesus, we will find mercy.
A God first life is safe in God's love.
