Show Love

Yesterday we talked about mercy being a covenant love that cannot be fully understood without first knowing God.  God is love (1 John 4:8).  When we seek to know God we will learn what it means to really love.

      Love never gives up.
Love cares more for others than for self.
Love doesn't want what it doesn't have.
      Love doesn't strut,
      Doesn't have a swelled head,
      Doesn't force itself on others,
      Isn't always "me first,"
      Doesn't fly off the handle,
Doesn't keep score of the sins of others,
      Doesn't revel when others grovel,
Takes pleasure in the flowering of truth,
      Puts up with anything,
      Trusts God always,
      Always looks for the best,
      Never looks back,
But keeps going to the end.
      Love never dies.
                    1 Cor. 13:4-8 Message

Love does not worry about itself in any way.  It is not based on emotions or moods or situations or circumstances.  Love overlooks insults and refuses to be unkind for any reason.

This is how God loves us and He wants us to love others the same way.

Today let's pick one aspect of love to study in an effort to reveal God to the people around us.  Spend some time thinking about love and talk to God about how you can develop it in your own character.

To love like God is to live God first.
