Willingness

God does not expect perfection from us, He knows us better than that.  A heart willing to obey and change is what catches His eye.

Restore to me the joy of Your salvation, and make me willing to obey you.
                              Psalm 51:12 NLT

God cannot work through a heart that is unwilling to change or grow.   Our willingness to obey God is like a field that has been plowed and tilled in preparation for planting.  It creates the perfect environment for us to receive seeds of godly wisdom and to plant them in our lives.

Being willing to obey God is the beginning of our partnership with Him.  When we want to change and we acknowledge our need for His help, God responds.  He will help us clear out the weeds and thistles and fertilize the soil of our lives so that we will grow in Him, through Him, and with Him.

Paul said that people water and plant the seeds of God's truth but it is God that causes the growth (1 Cor. 3:6).  Our willingness to obey God makes us pliable in His hands.  It allows God to shape and mold our lives and causes us to grow us closer to Him.

There can be no growth without willingness.

To live a God first life, you must be willing to obey Him.
