Work for Peace
Following God requires effort. God does not wave a magic wand over our lives showering us with peace and the harvest of good works.
Turn away from evil and do good.
Search for peace and work to maintain it.
Psalm 34:14 NLT
Turning away from evil requires forethought and planning. But just turning away alone is not enough. To replace the evil with good requires effort. It is in doing the good things that we find peace and confidence in God.
Peace does not just drop down from heaven and fill our hearts. It is a gift, given to us by Jesus, but still work is necessary for us to get past the experiences that have influenced us to doubt God.
Peace will continue to ellude those who do not trust in God. Trust in God cannot be developed without first living with Him and doing good works. Sharing your daily life with God helps you to see and appreciate His faithfulness. This is how you learn to trust Him.
Living for God is not efforless or easy. The standards we live by are often ridiculed by the world and so work is required to live by God's word.
We are promised that when we are diligent to live each day with God and by His word, His peace will grow and develop in us.
