Eliminate Forgetfulness

When Jesus was transfigured on the mountain, Peter wanted to build memorials to mark the occasion.  God's response was no.  He had something else in mind.

"This is My Son, marked by my love.  Listen to Him."
                              Mark 9:7 The Message

God's command here is simple - listen to Jesus.  In another translation it says "Hear Him."  How can you hear if you are not listening?  How can you listen if you are not engaged in a conversation?  Having a conversation is the beginning of a relationship.  The more you talk with someone, the more you get to know them.

Forgetfulness is destroyed in a real relationship with Jesus Christ.

We have been invited to have a one on one relationship with Jesus.  It is by investing ourselves in a relationship with Jesus that we are able to stay mindful of His presence and power.  The more we put into growing this relationship, the less we will forget about all that He has done for us.

Here is a small list of things that a relationship with Jesus keeps you aware of:

- I am saved by grace, not my own efforts.

- I am greatly loved, not for what I will become or do but for who I am now.

- I am forgiven, Jesus paid the debt of my sin in it's entirety (I could not do it myself).

- I am free, free to live not according to man-made rituals but in the abundant life that God has given me through Jesus Christ.

- I can make a difference, God has a purpose for me.  I am valuable and significant.

Our relationship with Jesus will change our perspective and change our life.  A forgetful heart is ungrateful and full of complaints.  A heart filled with gratitude for what has been done on it's behalf is able to reach out and share it's joy with others.

A friendship with Jesus is a living tabernacle to help us remember all that God has done for us.
