Connections
We were made to live connected with God and with each other. Our relationship with God grows through the connection of faith, hope, and love.
And so faith, hope, and love abide [faith - conviction and belief respecting man's relation to God and divine things; hope - joyful and confident expectation of eternal salvation; love - true affection for God and man, growing out of God's love for and in us], these three; but the greatest of these is love.
1 Cor. 13:13 Amplified
Faith, hope, and love are the simple and necessary aspects of living with and for Jesus.
We have got to believe without doubt or hesitation that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, who lived on earth as a man (while being completely divine) and willingly let Himself be beaten and tortured and killed so that we would be blameless in the eyes of God. He took the punishment for our sins so that we would never have to and He made us whole and acceptable to God.
Faith is accepting this gift of total restoration that comes from Jesus. We trust that God's word is true and through this trust we feed our hope of living for eternity with God. We hope in what we cannot see (or imagine) - the kingdom of God. A place free from hatred, sickness, and pain. It is a sinless place that overflows with love and peace.
As fallible human beings we have a hard time understanding what the pure love of God is like. The best picture I can think of to describe it is a waterfall. God's love for you is always pouring out. It is forward flowing, always in motion and always giving. His love within us is like that too. We release His love into the lives of others when we keep love flowing out of us by reaching out to help people in need.
The connection between faith, hope, and love is how God's love moves from Him to us and then through us to others.
A God first life keeps the connections of faith, hope, and love in motion.
