Purposeful Choices

As followers of Jesus Christ we have a responsibility to live right by doing the right thing in every situation regardless of who is or is not looking.  This kind of life is developed over time through purposeful choices.  What I mean is, we have to make choices every day that will help us live closer to Christ.

As I learn Your righteous regulations, I will thank you by living as I should.
                              Psalm 119:7 NLT

Everyday we make choices about how we will live.  We either do the right thing or not.  It's just that simple.  When our emotions or affections get involved in the picture, it gets harder to stay on course.

I have hidden Your word in my heart, that I might not sin against You.
                              Psalm 119:11 NLT

God does not wave a magic wand over you to make it easy to fulfill your purpose.  You cannot sit back and wait for Him to drop everything into your life.  The key to a purpose filled life is being consistent in making good decisions that help you move in the right direction.

To live with purpose, you have to live each day based on what you have accomplished the day before in an effort to make it to where you are going.  In other words, to fulfill your purpose requires a series of choices that line up with the direction you are wanting to go.

While being balanced in all things is important, a purposeful life sets priorities by weeding out those things that do not help you reach your goal to fulfill your purpose.

A life of purpose does not come naturally to us.  It requires training.  People do not become great at something without time, effort and sacrifice, living for Christ is no different.

I will delight in Your decrees and not forget Your word.
                              Psalm 119:16 NLT

Spending time reading your Bible and studying it is the beginning and foundation of living on purpose for Christ.  The Word of God has everything you need to fulfill your purpose of becoming more like Jesus.

Psalm 119 is full of verses that show purposeful lives don't just happen but are actually the result of diligent pursuit.

Purposeful choices today will impact the rest of your life.
