With Purpose
I recently met an extraordinary group of very diverse women who genuinely loved and cared for each other. I was intrigued by how they interacted with each other so I asked how the group got started and was surprised to learn that they began with a purpose.
This has stuck with me since.
Anything without a purpose will flounder, weaken and eventually die.
Purpose gives us a direction to travel in.
Isaiah 40:26 says, "Lift up your eyes..." We are challenged by this to look on purpose to and for God.
God does not want blind allegiance. He gave us free will and the ability to make choices so that we would choose Him just as He has chosen us. We can choose to love God, to follow Him, and to imitate Him. We choose the path of our lives by the things we purpose to do.
Our purpose is revealed by the choices we make.
I would not think of getting in the car and trying to drive it without putting my hands on the wheel. The same principle applies to life. I know what direction I want to go. I know where I am headed. But I can only reach my destination by being purposeful with my choices.
He gives power to the faint and weary, and to him who has no might He increases strength [causing it to multiply and making it to abound].
Isaiah 40:29 Amplified
God promises to help us. He gives us power and strengthens us. He gives us a purpose and then helps us fulfill that purpose because He knows we cannot do it alone.
Our response to the invitation to live with God is the first step in fulfilling our purpose.
We can be purposeful in everything we do with God's help. We can purpose to be the best spouse, parent, friend, employee, employer, and volunteer that we can be. God will fill in any gaps and help us.
Lift up your eyes to God and live on purpose.
