All Things

I ran across this verse over the weekend and it has stuck with me ever since.

God has put all things under the authority of Christ and has made him head over all things for the benefit of the church.  And the church is his body; it is made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere with himself.
                              Eph. 1:22-23 NLT

All things.  Jesus is the head over ALL THINGS!

There is nothing in front of you that is beyond the reach of Christ Jesus.

Jesus fills every place with His presence through the members of the church who make up His body.  We are never alone, never abandoned.

God reveals Himself to us through Christ in all things.  Big things.  Little things.  All things.

We've all seen stories of people who have faced enormous obstacles and persevered against all odds with a great attitude all because of their faith in Jesus.  While I love these stories of triumph (big things), I want to be a person who walks with God in the little things.

When I say little things I'm talking about my everyday ordinary life.  I have not encountered any kind of great traumatic event but God has revealed His faithfulness to me in many everyday life moments.  The most recent event involved two prayers.  One that I had asked for once and one that I have asked about for years.

I wanted to go to the Joyce Meyer's Women's Conference this year but I had no way of making that happen.  The conference was less than a week away when I simply said, "God, I sure wish I could go to that."  I whispered my request on Sunday and Wednesday evening I was trying to pack a bag for my weekend getaway with one person I knew and five complete strangers.

For years prior to this trip, I had asked God to help me find a group of women who could be friends through thick and thin without backbiting.  I refused to give up on the belief that women could actually exist in a group without competition and jealousy and that there could be mutual respect and compassion for each other in all seasons of life.

Well, in responding to my desire to go to the women's conference, I found a group of women who genuinely cared for and purposefully encouraged and supported each other without discord or judgment.

God showed up in my little thing to give me a big thing.

Through us, Jesus permeates our world and uses both the big and the little things to encourage us and the people around us.

Jesus is the head over all things.  Nothing is too big or too small for Him.
