Blind and Deaf
Have you ever tried to talk to someone who is in another room? Frustrating, isn't it? This is how many of us try to live with God. We put Him in one part of our life and not in others. In essence, we are living blindly and in deafness because our ability to hear and see God is impaired. We are in fact, spiritual cripples.
Even though we are human beings living in a physical world, we cannot ignore the spiritual aspect of life. As we talked yesterday about being blind to the needs of others, I was reminded that our ability to see and hear God stirs up our faith and encourages us to take that next step.
So faith comes by hearing, that is, hearing the Good News about Christ.
Rom. 10:17 NLT
Refusing to listen to and heed the wisdom of God is foolishness. Our determination to stay focused only on our own desires, limits our life. We cannot grow closer to God without putting Him first.
Many people say they cannot understand what they read in their Bibles. This is true if we rely only on our own intellect. But when we open our eyes to seek God and take the time to listen to what He says, we will not only find greater understanding but greater application of the truths found in His word. In other words, we discover the gifts that God has given us so we can use them to strengthen the body of Christ.
In that day the deaf shall hear the words of the book, and the eyes of the blind shall see out of obscurity and out of darkness.
Isa. 28:18 Amplified
God promises that the blind shall see and the deaf shall hear when we turn to Him and open our lives to His teaching. We will see and hear new and wonderful things that can improve our lives as well as the lives of the people around us.
My prayer as we continue to look at openness is that you see and hear from God more clearly and in the process you will realize not only how much you need Him but how great is His love for you.
Look and listen for God in your every day ordinary life.
