Embracing Change

Because we are imperfect people we may have many things that need to change but instead of getting overwhelmed by feelings of condemnation or not knowing where to start, turn to the One who loves you just as you are and who also has the power to help you succeed.

Jesus is way, the truth and the life (John 14:6) and He alone has the power to help you through the process of change.

But to us who are personally called by God himself -- both Jew and Greeks -- Christ is God's ultimate miracle and wisdom all wrapped up in one.  Human wisdom is so tinny, so impotent, next to the seeming absurdity of God.  Human strength can't begin to compete with God's "weakness."
                              1 Cor. 1:24-25 Message

The key to successful transformation is to focus on one thing at a time and let Jesus lead and guide you.  He alone is all the wisdom of God made available to you through the power of the Holy Spirit that dwells in you.

This is one time where you don't want to look at the big picture.  Instead, choose one topic or area at a time to focus on.  We grow by taking one step at a time.  The Bible says our faith grows little by little, line upon line, precept upon precept.  Change, to be mastered successfully, also requires us to address one aspect at a time.

I cannot talk about change without sharing with you something that has helped me tremendously.  It is called "My One Word" and I highly recommend it to anyone interested in growing closer to God and who wants to be more like Christ on this earth.

This is a website that helps you work with God to effect change in your life.  You start by picking one word that identifies what you want to change.  There are tools to help you through the whole process.  They email short messages and scripture throughout the year to help you stay focused on your "word"  along with questions that you can answer in the online journal.  This is not a public forum so your answers and progress are only between you and God unless you choose to share.

I encourage you to go to the website (here's the link: My One Word) and look around.  I will probably mention this again as it starts over at the beginning of the calendar year.  Now is the time I start talking to God about what my next one word is going to be.

Embrace change in your life by asking for God's help.
