Heart Wide Open
Open hearts enable us to help others by treating all people with dignity, respect, and compassion by putting an end to judgment and hate and allowing others from all walks of life to enrich our lives. As humans, we cannot do this on our own but with God we can.
Open hearts include people. No one is left out unless they choose not to enter.
When we close our hearts, we exclude people from being part of our lives and it can also stop us from receiving from God.
God's heart is open to all people. He desires the heart of every person, not for His own selfish gain but so He can give to each of the love He made us for.
When we close our heart to people, we close our heart to God.
A closed heart produces a selfish and lonely life because it shuts people out of our life by limiting our view to only what we want, think, and feel. It refuses to entertain new ideas or new ways of looking at things.
As a society and as individuals, we have included and excluded people based on our own beliefs. Instead of looking for the things we have in common with each other, we focus on our differences and judge each other. People as a whole refuse to think that God would accept anyone that isn't just like them. So based on our limited understanding of God and the life experiences we have had, we condemn those who we think are wrong.
I have been made painfully aware of how guilty I am of this very thing. I had my list of qualities that made a person acceptable or not. It was based totally on my criteria of right and wrong and that has been influenced and shaped by what my parents believed when I was growing up and what I think I know now.
Instead of looking for hidden meanings or motives or jumping to conclusions, God wants me to accept people at face value. I cannot take personally the choices someone else makes. God has called me live openly by accepting all people as they are in the same way that He has accepted me.
For you will be treated as you treat others. The standard you use in judging is the standard by which you will be judged.
Matt. 7:2 NLT
My openness towards others is the same amount of openness that God will show towards me. This includes how quick I am to condemn as well as what I condemn them for.
God accepts the sinner, the weak, the abused, and the broken all the same. There is no one who is better than another in His eyes. He loves us all.
Open your heart and your life by accepting people without judgment.
