Open To Change

I got sick last week and was not able to finish our discussion on openness.   At the time I wasn't sure where we were going from there but since then God has brought me to the topic of being open to change.

I always think of change in the fall as the leaves turn colors and the vibrant green of summer fades into the rich golds, reds, and browns of autumn.  As the leaves change colors I am reminded that growth cannot occur without change.

We were not born with our current knowledge or abilities.  We had to grow into them through the process of change.  Most people dread the idea of change because it usually involves some discomfort and effort on our part but it is worth it if we want the results that come with it.

Now your attitudes and thoughts must all be constantly changing for the better.  Yes, you must be a new and different person.
                              Eph. 4:23 TLB

The Bible says we are new creations in Christ Jesus but in order for that to manifest itself in our life, we must change the way we think, speak, and behave.  The great thing about this is that God is by our side through the whole process and He is not only willing but He is able to help us along the way.

Have you ever tried to change yourself by yourself?  It's impossible.  We need the strength and wisdom of God to open our eyes and understanding to what needs to be changed as well as how to change it.

For I can do everything through Christ, who gives me strength.
                              Phil. 4:13 NLT

There is nothing we cannot do with God's help.  All that God teaches us about godly living is possible when we rely on His help to make any changes necessary.

There is no condemnation in this process with God.  He simply shows us what we need to do and He helps us to get it done.

Is there something God has been dealing with you about changing?  Maybe now is the time to trust Him to help you overcome anything that is holding you back from reaching your full potential.

Take the first step toward change by asking God for His help.
