We All Fall Down
We tend to group people based on their known or obvious sin. We also have a grading system for sin. There are little sins and big sins, sins we try to hide and sins we admit to. Some people even think they can do good things to counter act the sin they have committed.
Unfortunately in God's eyes, sin is sin. There is not one that is better or worse than another.
For the person who keeps all of the laws except one is as guilty as a person who has broken all of God's laws.
James 2:10 NLT
We are all guilty for we have all sinned. No one can escape from being wrong. Every one feels the pain of doing something foolish or making a bad choice. We all stumble and we all fall down.
This one commonality instead of bringing people together has been used to cause division. We label other people and exclude them from our lives based on the level we have assigned to their sin. This is wrong.
Jesus came to remove the sin of all of God's people not just the ones who are guilty of "little" sins. He hung out with the people that the church leaders would have nothing to do with. He invited every person to turn from their sin and receive the gift of forgiveness from God.
It is hard for us to understand God's concept of forgiveness because we have created our own list of what can be forgiven and what cannot. Pride is a great deceiver and it can blind us to the truth of just how much we all need the mercy and grace of God.
Every person from every tribe, nation and tongue is wanted by God and welcome in His kingdom. The price of admittance is through humility and repentance as we acknowledge that we have been wrong, we have sinned and we need the help of Jesus Christ to do for us what we can never do for ourselves.
God looks past the sin to the heart of the person.
We all fall down, some just fall harder and farther than others. Today, help someone get back up.
