Whatever You Do

We talked yesterday about doing what you can according to what you have.  Giving more than this will result in frustration and unhappiness.  God does not ask us to give everything, He only asks us to do what we can.

And whatever you do or say, do it as a representative of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks through Him to God, the Father.
                              Col. 3:17 NLT

When we give to others, God does not want us criticizing it.  What we have is a gift from Him and He wants us to share what He has given us.  Remember the story of the little boy's lunch that fed thousands?

It is hard, though, not to look at our giving and think it is too small or not enough.  And truth is, it is not.  But when we all contribute by doing what we can, then there is always enough.

Thankfulness is our motive in giving.  We give because we are grateful to God who has given us more than enough for ourselves so that we can be a blessing to others.

I want to be clear that giving material things is not the only way we can give to others.  We can volunteer our time to help put together packages for our soldiers away from home or for underprivileged children all over the world.  We can serve a meal at the local homeless shelter or lend a listening ear to someone who is discouraged or grieving.

Often times, our greatest gifts are our presence and a kind word.

Encouraging others verbally is a wonderful gift.  People love to hear that they are doing a good job.  Your words carry tremendous weight.  Give them as priceless jewels and you will also be refreshed and strengthened.

Don't let your perception of the size or amount of what you are giving stop you.  We cannot do everything but we can do something and when we all do something then everything is done.

By demonstrating our gratitude to God through giving, we can make a huge impact on people all around us.

God takes whatever you do and uses it to give strength, peace, joy, and comfort to many.
