All You Need
...Lord if You are willing, You are able...
Mat. 8:2 Amplified
So many times we come to God begging and pleading like we have to persuade Him to help us out. The leper who came to Jesus for healing here in Matthew Chapter 8 simply says "if You are willing, You are able." What great faith he had! He came to Jesus knowing that He would meet his need for healing if He was able. Of course, Jesus was able and the leper was completely healed.
Likewise, we don't have to grovel when we ask God for help because He has proved His willingness to meet our every need, both big and small, through the sacrifice of His Son, Jesus.
God is willing to help us, provide for us, and strengthen us. He gives us wisdom, understanding, and inspiration. Whatever we need, God has made available to us through Jesus.
In the Book of John, Jesus makes seven "I am" statements that directly parallel the Covenant name of God, Yahweh ("I AM") by which He revealed Himself to Moses (Exodus 3:14). These proclamations display the depth and power of God's love for us and reveal how He alone is all we really need.
He is true Life, a real and authentic life that nourishes our mind and spirit as food does our bodies.
He is the Light by which we live in a dark world. Our purpose and the meaning of our life is found in Him.
He is our freedom, enabling us to live apart from the Law with the wisdom to know that we can do all things but not everything is beneficial.
He is the blood sacrifice required for the atonement of sin that enables us to enter the very presence of God.
He is our eternal life. Jesus defeated the power of death so that we could spend eternity with God.
He is the only way to God. Only through Christ can we come to the Father.
Our connection to God through Christ allows us to grow, prosper, and bear fruit. We can make a difference in the lives of others because of our connection to God, the giver of life.
Join me this Christmas in getting to know Jesus better as we explore these seven statements one by one.
